A Cafe/Bar in a Movie Theatre? | STEM Coffee 스탬 커피 COEX
vibes
STEM Coffee is one of the largest and most elaborately decorated cafes that I've seen thus far. Cafe and flower shop collaborations seem to be a trend in Korea, and STEM is a glorified version of that. Located within the movie theatre at Coex, the cafe provides an underground bar vibe. On one end is a compartmentalized space filled with velvet seats, dangling plants, and even a barber shop chair. the center holds a bar counter with velvet stools.
fooods
I've tried the Lemon Hibiscus and Honey Passionfruit "Squash" as well as the Piña Colada. They were both priced at 8,000 which is expensive but pretty standard for fancy drinks in Korean cafes. Although the drinks were amazingly aesthetic, their taste was sub-par. The passionfruit drink was more sour than sweet, and the lemon hibiscus was slightly bitter. The Piña Colada was pretty tasty. I could barely taste the rum, which I prefer since I'm not a big fan of the taste of alcohol.
final thots
I wouldn't expect too much from the drinks themselves, but the atmosphere is amazing. They also have more affordable coffee drinks that you can enjoy without splurging. Honestly, the cafe is pretty open so you can walk around and sit without having to buy anything. I would recommend checking it out if you plan on visiting Coex.
pros: huge space and lots of seating, accessible
cons: can get pretty crowded on weekends, not for studying
what i recommend: The pina colada and lemon hibiscus tasted better than the passionfruit
find it: Inside the Megabox at Coex Mall
