Things I Did in Cancún

1. Marriott Cancún

Ah, resort life. The Mariott was great. The service is not all-inclusive, but it allowed us to explore Cancún more. If you're in need of food and drink, there's a pizza restaurant/convenience store and a bar in the lobby, a pool-side bar, and a restaurant/bar by the beach. The drinks were 170 pesos with alcohol and 110 without, which is pretty pricey but not suprising. They also don't have that much alcohol in them. I really enjoyed the piña colada and the mudslide (coconut, vodka, bayley's, kahlua, chocolate syrup, I highly recommend!). The strawberry and mango margaritas tasted good too.

I really appreciated the beach. It was exclusive, not populated, and decently sized. There were larger waves which I thought was much more entertaining than having no waves, but it can get a little overwhelming at times. There's also two beach volleyball courts and a basketball court towards the pool.

The service was great. Everyone was really friendly and willing to help. The concierge helped us find good restaurants, exchanged money, and gave information on how to navigate Cancún.

Overall, it was an amazing experience staying here.

2. Pescadillos el Galeón

The fish tacos are 15 pesos. That's 81 cents :-O. And they taste great. The tacos are filled with cooked fish then deep fried in a vat of oil. It comes with a bomb habanero salsa. You can also order a side of guac for 50 pesos. If you're not feeling tacos, they have shrimp, octopus, and mixed ceviche and fish fillet with different sauces. I thought the ceviche was a bit fishy for my taste, but I really enjoyed the fish filet with garlic. (Tip: If you have trouble finding the restaurant, it's right across the Royal Solaris hotel)

3. La Vaquita

It's a club with an open bar. $35 if you like drinking then highly recommend! I had one piña colada, then a virgin one, and a third of a tequila shot. Yeah, stupid I know. I still hate myself for wasting that much money for (less than) three drinks. By 1 AM I got bored took a bus home, but not before eating tacos at a stand at the end of the street huehuehuee.

4. La Hacienda Sisal

It's like a 3.5-star version of Chilli's, as in they serve slightly overpriced white-catered-Mexican food. I wouldn't come here for some unique or life-changing Mexican food, but the restaurant is really beautiful though!

5. Isla de Mujeres

Isla de Mujeres is an island off the coast of Cancun. We took off late, so we only had about three hours on the island. We ate lunch, shopped for souvenirs, and laid on the beach. TBH it was not spectacular. If I could do it again, I would've gone earlier to snorkel because I heard it was great there (also it was only $20-30). I would also plan ahead for restaurants.

6. Marina Sunrise

This is actually a Jungle Cruise company but there's a restaurant attached to it. To get to the restaurant, you have to walk through the convenience store and go down the stairs to the deck. They serve a combination of American and Mexican entrees.  I highly recommend the tacos de pescado and the huevos a la Mexicana. The tacos de cochinita were pretty good. I would skip the hot dog and nachos (they weren't great).  Don't miss out on the chili oil it tastes amazing on everything.

6. La Habichuela

oh the VIBES. This restaurant was a bitch to find, but what a gem! The outdoor seating reminds me of a Disneyland setting with twinkly lights, greenery, and  fancy white patio chairs. Oh, and the service is grand. The waiters were so kind and brought about giant bread baskets  and a palette cleanser(!) with guava with lemon sorbet hnnggg. I got the most expensive lobster and shrimp dish called cocobichuela. It was good, but honestly not worth the price (650 pesos). Vacation Jisoo just spends way too much on food, it's an issue. Side note: stay away from the veggie fettucine and piña colada. Like it was the worst pasta and piña colada of my life.

7. Sedona Grill (AYCE) @ J.W. Marriott

It's a Mexican Buffet with a nice selection of meats, desserts (tres leches cake, arroz con leche, churros, flan, cotton candy(!)), and tacos. They didn't have much seafood except for cooked fish which was disappointing. I also got full so quickly because everything was so protein and carb-heavy. Besides that, I really enjoyed the food!  I recommend taking breaks between plates and staying away from "empty carbs" (tortilla wraps, plain bread, rice, plantains) and water in order to maximize your intake.
